Then in game, I found that for me the best thing is to turn on both Vertical Sync AND Smooth Fix.
This should stop any screen tearing and overall jerky movement that happens. Then go to Program Settings and find Geometry Dash (geometrydash.exe) Scroll down until you find Vertical sync, should be second from the bottom. On the left side, go to Manage 3D settings. Right click your desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, try locking vertical sync in Nvidia Control Panel. I think the problem is just poor optimisation of the game, rather than anything having gone wrong on your end.
